I just read Fearless by Max Lucado because a Shorter graduate recommended it to me, and this book was very worthwhile indeed, easy to read while being both comforting and challenging. It caused me to write a few new 3″x5″ index cards, my favorite being this one:
Jesus said to them immediately, “Don’t be afraid. Take courage. I am here!” (Matthew 14:27)
So seriously, that is beautiful, especially the “I am here!”
If only I could learn not to forget that.
“I am here!” in the middle of my raising a teenager.
“I am here!” in the middle of my worries when I am editing a book.
“I am here!” in the middle of deadlines.
“I am here!” in the middle of my wondering how to love difficult people better.
“I am here!” in the middle of my trying to learn how I myself can change so that I am not one of those difficult people!
“I am here!” in the middle of my intercessory prayers for my friends who have real problems.
“I am here!” in the middle of my trying to teach students well and from a whole perspective.
“I am here!” in the middle of global financial crises.
“I am here!” in the middle of my trying to grow up, daily.
“I am here!” Jesus says.
I just need to listen and let that be true for me.
Very nice. Just what I needed today.
Thank you, Carmen.
Thanks, I really needed that. He is here, in my little studio, when I am lonely with my teenager/young man not here, and in another country.
You are the best Carmen.
